a SCORE is a special form of presentation. it is linked to instructions for action and looks more ahead than backwards: the planning of an upcoming event. the OPEN score even goes one step further: it articulates the process of creating new realities and their indefiniteness. in his latest publication, christopher dell outlines the OPEN CITY SCORE.
the typographic concept is taken from the visual character of a score in which several parts, transcribed in musical notation, are arranged one above the other. The black legends in the text form a structure similar to that of a notation in the course of the three-column text, so that the associated footnotes are distributed similarly to bar lines. this creates a pre-programmed and supposedly uneven distribution. the different font sizes of the body text are based on rhythm, volume and the voice - the basic character of the score.
